Anthony Moody

Executive Director of SCC Holdings & Chairman of Asia

Anthony is a Main Board member resident in Asia supporting the implementation of the Corporate agenda by the Asia-based business units. In coordination with the business units he also has a lead role in establishing and managing Government relationships in the Region. He has over thirty five years experience in the capital markets, investment banking, and investment management industry, all with operating, financial, or fiduciary responsibility. Twenty years of this experience has been in Asia, the majority managing the capital markets and wealth management businesses of Continental Bank and its acquirer Bank of America. Prior to founding his own private equity investment company in 2003, Anthony was CEO for Asia of Zurich Scudder Investments, the asset management arm of Zurich Financial Services, a member of the firm’s Global Management Committee, and Chairman of Scudder Investments Japan. Anthony is a Director of a number of Asian investment funds and on a ‘pro bono’ basis actively supports the promotion of higher standards of corporate governance and sustainable responsible investment, and microfinance. He initially joined SCC as an Adviser to the Board in 2006.

Assaad Razzouk

Group CEO, Sindicatum Carbon Capital

Assaad co-founded Sindicatum Group in 2002 and Sindicatum Carbon Capital in 2005. As SCC Group Chief Executive, Assaad is responsible for SCC’s overall strategy, stakeholder relationships and the project investments managed by SCC’s business units in China, the United States, South East Asia and India. From 1993 to 2002, Assaad was an investment banker at Nomura International plc in London, where he was successively Head of the Middle East Group (1993-1997), Head of Corporate Finance – Emerging Markets (1997-1999), Head of Corporate Finance – Financial Institutions, Communications and Technology (1999-2001) and Deputy Head, Global Corporate Finance (2001-2002). At Nomura International, Assaad advised on several billion dollars of equity and debt capital raisings and invested several hundred million dollars of Nomura’s capital in private equity and principal finance investments in the emerging markets, each investment resulting in a profitable exit for Nomura. From 1988 to 1993, Assaad was at Price Waterhouse in New York City where his last position was as Manager, International Capital Markets. At Price Waterhouse, Assaad advised the Government of Indonesia on the privatisation of state-owned enterprises from 1991 to 1993, with an emphasis on the transportation sector, and specialised in advising Fortune 500 corporations in cross-border structured lease financings. Assaad is a graduate of Syracuse University (Summa Cum Laude) and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Bob Johnson

Executive Vice President, Head of Origination, South East Asia

Bob joined SCC as Executive Vice President, Head of Origination, South East Asia in 2009. Bob manages a team of professionals performing deal development and structuring activities. Prior to joining SCC, Bob held senior level roles at leading banking institutions focusing on project finance, structured finance, and M&A transactions. Mr. Johnson has over 18 years of banking experience and over 25 years of combined banking and industry experience in the oil and gas and energy sectors. He has closed over US$7 billion in related transactions, the bulk of which were in Asia. Mr. Johnson holds an MBA from the Wharton School in Philadelphia, and an SB in Chemical Engineering from MIT in Cambridge MA.

Danny da Cruz

CEO, SCC MENA

Danny has been with SCC since its inception. In January 2009, he established SCC MENA, a Bahrain based clean energy and climate change project development company focused on the Middle East and North Africa. SCC MENA is a joint venture between SCC and Gulf One Investment Bank, a major GCC infrastructure bank with extensive relationships in the region. Danny manages a team of engineers, climate change experts and project finance professionals to originate projects in the power, oil & gas, water and industrial sectors in one of the most resource intensive regions of the world. SCC MENA also advises regional governments on climate change and clean energy policy. Prior to starting SCC MENA, Danny worked in a number of business development roles within SCC, including project origination and implementation in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Indonesia. Prior to SCC, he was a co-founder and director of OdC+Co, a strategy consulting firm based in London that advised blue chip companies such as Shell, Ford Motor Company, Toyota and the London Stock Exchange on strategy development and change management. Before that he was a senior consultant at Braxton Associates, Deloitte & Touche’s strategy consulting arm. Danny began his career as an officer in the United States Navy, serving in positions afloat and ashore. He has an Aerospace Engineering degree from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, a masters in International Relations from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from the London Business School.

David Carew

Group Executive Vice President

David was a cofounder of SCC and heads SCC’s Special Situations Group centred in HK. Prior to this David headed project finance groups for Bank of America and Nomura International plc out of Hong Kong. During his project finance banking career, David has successfully advised and closed financings for clients in large infrastructure transactions in the oil & gas, telecommunications, power generation, waste management, and transportation sectors in Europe and Asia.

David Creedy

Senior Vice President, Coal Mine Methane Group

David joined SCC in December 2006 as head of the Coal Mine Methane (CMM) Group where he manages a team of 11 CMM engineers and staff responsible for developing, implementing and operating CMM and ventilation air methane (VAM) projects. He has global responsibility for technical matters relating to coal mine projects and for delivery of coal mine utilisation and abatement projects in China. David is a Chartered Engineer with 30 years experience in coal mine methane, coalbed methane, institutional and energy projects. He spent his formative years at British Coal’s Mining Research and Development Establishment where he became Head of the Methane Group with responsibility for a wide range of applied research. He has worked mainly in China since 2003, initially with Wardell Armstrong LLP as a technical director, and then as an independent consultant before joining Sindicatum Carbon Capital. David assisted the World Bank in China with coal sector institutional and regulatory reform projects and the formulation of strategy for CBM/CMM development and utilisation and was Chief Technical Adviser to the UNDP-MOST clean energy action project involving 18 pilot cities. He was closely involved with the evolution of the CDM methodology for CMM extraction and utilisation/destruction and is the CMM sector specialist for DNV providing technical advice on CDM and JI project validation.

David Raubenheimer

Executive Vice President, Operations, South East Asia

David joined SCC as Senior Vice President, Power Generation in August 2006. David is now Executive Vice President for Operations in South East Asia where he manages a team of 9 Project Managers and 10 engineers and commercial staff. David is based in Singapore and he and his team operate throughout the region to manage the construction and operation of SCC’s projects. David is also involved in technical, construction and operational due diligence on SCC’s investment targets. David has over 22 years experience developing, constructing and operating a wide range of power generation projects. Before joining SCC David spent 15 years as Development Director then Operations Director with Energy Power Resources Limited (formerly Fibrowatt Limited) where he was instrumental in developing its fleet of 5 biomass and 4 wind power projects. David started his career working for Centrax Gas Turbines Limited and gained experience on landfill gas and coal mine methane power generation projects. David is a Chartered Mechanical Engineering and is Chairman of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Renewable Power Committee.

Gareth Phillips

Chief Climate Change Officer

Gareth joined SCC as Chief Climate Change Officer in January 2006 where he manages a team of 6 Senior Climate Change Officers (SCCO) and approx 20 Climate Change Project Officers based in SCC’s head and regional offices. In 2008, Gareth introduced a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) covering the activities of the Climate Change Team from initial pre-screening of project opportunities through registration to issuance of emission reductions. Within the QMS, Gareth and the SCCOs either work on specific projects or act as technical reviewers of all project documentation, ensuring that PDDs and other documents are of a high quality. Gareth is also responsible for training, competency assessments and approval to perform critical activities such as the preparation of PDDs. Prior to joining SCC, Gareth was the Global Manager of the SGS Climate Change Programme, where he was responsible for obtaining and maintaining SGS’ accreditation as a Designated Operational Entity to the CDM Executive Board. Gareth is one the world’s leading experts on climate change and the Kyoto Protocol, having worked on the validation and verification of numerous CDM and JI projects in most sectors, and also in accreditation and verification for the UK and EU Emission Trading Schemes, the California Climate Action Registry, the Chicago Climate Exchange and voluntary carbon offset projects particularly in the forestry sector where the pioneered the concept of buffering.

Jorgen Keyser

Senior Vice President, Oil and Gas Group

Jorgen joined SCC in June 2007 as Senior Vice President and presently heads the Company’s global team of Oil and Gas specialists. His principal area of interest is the abatement of gas flaring and other emission reduction initiatives that can qualify for carbon credits in the Oil & Gas industry. SCC’s Tambun mini-LPG project in Indonesia proved the concept of CDM assisted flared gas to market and Jorgen and his team are working with other industry partners to develop similar industrial solutions elsewhere. In order to broaden the reach within the sector, Jorgen and his team are also closely aligned with other core SCC skills sets, in particular the Climate Change team and the technology group (SCT). Prior to joining SCC, Jorgen worked for over 20 years with BP, holding diverse commercial positions in the Group’s E&P and Gas, Power and Renewable segments, most recently as Director Negotiations for the North Africa Business unit.

Kirk Evans

CEO, SCC South East Asia

Kirk brings 20 years of experience in Indonesia where he has been involved in high profile projects in the information technology, finance, and agriculture industries. He was the founder of PT Solusindo, an information technology company that provides software and support services to the Indonesian banking industry and is currently providing outsourcing services to four of the largest foreign Banks in Indonesia. He is also a Director of PT Haydrian Indonesia, a company that provides anti-money laundering solutions to banks, brokerages and the insurance industry. He holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and has consulted to the World Bank, the European Union, and the German technical aid organization, GTZ on international cooperation for sustainable development.

Kevin Garner

Senior Vice President, Landfill Gas Group

Kevin joined SCC as the Landfill Gas Director in 2007 where he is responsible for the management and implementation of SCC’s LFG to energy projects globally with an initial focus on projects in the Asian region, particularly China, Thailand and Indonesia. Kevin is responsible for ensuring the LFG team delivery on project design, technical specifications, site supervision and installation, cost control and procurement, monitoring and reporting, utilisation and power generation schemes to optimize gas recovery and maximise methane abatement. Kevin has led the development of SCC’s proprietary LFG system and provides full technical support to the origination and execution strategies of the SCC Group for his sector. Kevin is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years industry experience including 12 years with international consulting firm Wardell Armstrong and more recently as General Manager, Business Development with SINO Gas and Energy Ltd based in Beijing. He has been involved in promoting clean energy projects in China since 2000 and also has worked in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Romania and Europe. Kevin’s work in China has focused on the development of clean and renewable energy projects and has involved project assessment, evaluation of industry performance and the identification of management and technology needs; these have allowed Kevin to develop extensive experience of the political, technical and financial barriers related to the development of clean energy projects in the region.

Kevin Xu

CEO, SCC China

Kevin joined SCC in 2008 as CEO , SCC China. Kevin is responsible for SCC’s business in Greater China, including a China WFOE, the Beijing Representative Office and the SCC Hong Kong office; and his role includes managing SCC’s investment and project portfolios in Greater China from project identification and origination, leading to financial closure on the one hand and project execution, operation and delivery on the other hand. Kevin also interacts with other group units on SCC Group initiatives and activities in the region. The SCC China leadership team consists of senior managers in the areas of climate exchange, Finance, Human Resources/Admin, HSE, Public Relations, Legal, Commercial and Strategy, Technical and Project Management. Kevin is a graduate of Dalian College of Light Industry (mechanical engineering) and holds an MBA from the State University of New York. Kevin is a seasoned Chinese corporate executive who started his 25 year career at the Ministry of Light Industry in China, before serving in various executive roles at (amongst others) General Electric for 5 years and at BP for 10 years (where he was lastly Chairman & General Manager, BP Zhuhai LPG and Vice President, BP LPG China). He joined SCC from his previous role as Board Member and General Manager of Sinoswiss Inspection Co. Ltd.

Richard Edwards

Consultant, Trading

Richard joined SCC in 2007 as Senior Consultant, Trading Strategy. Previously, he managed his own hedge fund business and prior to that, he worked for seven years at Merrill Lynch and for seven years at Lehman brothers where he managed the fixed-income and currency derivatives unit. He has spent much of his working life at the boundary between science and financial markets, using modern developments in Mathematics to model market behaviour. He is the author of a book about option pricing and the co-author of a body of work on the influence of crowd dynamics on market behaviour.

Richard Wilkinson

Executive Vice President and CFO

Richard combines over 10 years of business management experience with 15 years in banking and investment banking. Most recently he was Executive Deputy Chairman of The African Lakes Corporation Plc where he led the turnaround of Africa Online, sub-Saharan Africa’s leading ISP.

Before that he was Managing Director of Angel Train Contracts where he led the post privatization restructuring and significant growth of this £1.2billion business and its subsequent sale to the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He was previously a Director in the Principal Finance Group at Nomura International PLC.

Umesh Sahdev

CEO, SCC India

Umesh joined SCC in 2007 as CEO, SCC India, to establish SCC's operations in India. He subsequently finalized our Joint Venture with ENAM, India's leading Merchant Bankers. Umesh has built a business delivery team of 8 people fully equipped to identify, appraise and negotiate greenhouse gas abatement projects in the Indian Subcontinent, including a business network for the identification of viable investment project proposals in SCC India's main verticals of Bio Mass to Power / Cogeneration, Waste to Bio Diesel and MSW Recycling. Umesh has 36 years of diverse experience in projects & business development in a wide range of industries in India. Previously, he was CEO of the Projects Division of India's major merchant banking company Bajaj Capital and Head of Merchant Banking Operations of Mefcom Capital Markets Ltd. He has represented and developed businesses in India for Sandivk Process Systems, Italy and Siam Superior Group, Thailand. He was a founding member of the team of AIM-listed PMCI plc and was its Director of Operations in India before joining SCC.

Susan E. Wood

CEO, SCC Americas

Susan joined Sindicatum Carbon Capital in November 2007 as CEO of SCC Americas. In this role she leads a team that provides the financing and the technical expertise necessary to develop greenhouse gas emission reduction projects that reduce carbon emissions. These projects are further verified to provide carbon offset credits to the US voluntary and compliance markets. Ms. Wood resides in Houston, TX where the headquarters of SCC Americas is located. She has spent the past 15 years in the emissions, energy and environmental markets. Having entered the emissions trading arena in early 1994, she is considered one of the pioneers of this market. Her experience in environmental engineering and the trading of emissions, natural gas, oil and oil products provides her with a strong understanding of financial and derivative structures that she currently applies to the greenhouse gas (GHG) markets. Ms. Wood started her career as an Environmental Engineer for Emcon and in this role was involved in starting The AirBank, one of the first emissions brokerage firms. She subsequently moved on to Enron’s and Sempra Energy’s emissions, oil and natural gas trading desks. In 2003 she joined the newly created AgCert International. Ms. Wood spent the last 4 years originating Clean Development Methodology (CDM) and Verified Emission Reduction (VERs) deals in the carbon markets. She has been actively involved with the US carbon market development including originating, verifying and selling carbon credits and participating in the regulatory development process for the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and California’s AB32.
