Land Fill gas represents a major source of anthropogenic methane emissions. Methane
is 21 times more powerful than CO2 as a greenhouse gas. Our specialist Landfill
Gas Group finances and implements Landfill Gas capture and utilisation projects,
with these projects qualifying for Carbon Credits under the Clean Development Mechanism.
In many countries, national and local waste management, design, operation practices
and general site management result in low LFG collection and utilisation efficiencies.
SCC has built an experienced international LFG team capable of providing technical
design and equipment specification, in-country on site supervision and management
of site operations, in order to maximise LFG recovery and use the most effective
technology. The application of SCC’s advanced LFG collection design, integrated
into landfill site operations, will maximise stable gas capture, allowing for a
higher percentage of end use gas and lower atmospheric emissions.
SCC’s focus is not only on maximising LFG recovery from suitable existing sites,
but also in developing new-build land fills from which a cash income stream is derived
from the sale of Carbon Credits and on site electricity generation and export.
